I wanna be fit this year!!! If that’s you gather here let’s take a selfie….. Oops, but wait a minute, this was you last year, and probably the year before, but still it seems as though you’re not hitting those body and fitness goals…. Whew! How do we do this? How do we get there?
Have you heard of INTERMITTENT FASTING? I got to hear of this word last year when my uncle was enlightening me on it’s benefit as we sat patiently at Dominos Pizza 🍕🍕🍕 waiting for our order. Ironic right? It’s a meal plan were you intentional time your eating process say every 6hours etc, and of course a planned diet. That sounded okay with me, so I opted in but decided to know more….
I got to understand that this is quite different from Starvation. With starvation you actually wanna eat but there’s no food available, on the other hand, with Fasting, you choose not to eat for personal, health or spiritual reasons. Now, fasting simply allows the body to burn off excess body fat. Body fat is merely food energy that has been stored away. If you don’t eat, your body will simply “eat” its own fat for energy. There are also different hours through which one can proceed on this plan, i started out with the 6 hourly fast – I eat every 6 hours, oh well I try not to miss breakfast even if it is a cup of green tea, or lemon & honey juice before having another meal around 1pm-2pm.
Now this plan is not for EVERYONE – There are limits, pregnant women, underweights, etc are not advised to participate. I must say it did help me, firstly with my appetite, it disciplined my urge to always have something in my mouth. Diet Doctor explained it appropriately here.
Added to this plan, I decided to exercise daily. I started with 10 skipping rounds 3 days a week, the remaining 3 days I do crunches, jumping jacks and tummy tucks. I’m taking it easy, but consistently. I’ve decided to start a sporting class on swimming and volleyball, heard it’s an amazing way of keeping fit.
So yeah, do you have a fitness goal/plan? Don’t take it too hard on yourself, find an accountable partner, and be consistent. Take a measure of your current weight and write it down alongside the weight you’re aiming for. This would help you remain motivated. Drink lots of water, yes this helps. Detox every two weeks. Most importantly work with a professional dietitian and/or a doctor.
Did I tell you? Yay! 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽 I crushed my 2018 fitness goal, and I’m so motivated and excited to crush 2019’s own!
I started doing it again. Hopefully, I can lose more the second time around.
