INGRATITUDE

Slowly like a stray dog
It seeks comfort in my weary thoughts
And makes home in my perception
Bringing a tornado of dissatisfaction
My mind is made to believe
That without more I’m incomplete
Forgetting what I currently have
And dwelling on what I don’t

I’ve been shaped to see everyday
Like a competition I must win
And made to neglect
The spoils of yesterday’s victory

No more! I must fight to see reasons
To remain thankful
And enjoy each moment
Full of hope about the next
