04. 07. 2018 || A BOLD ACTION
It’s done in secret at night. You are home for the holidays from boarding school, as there is no school in your rural community in Kenya. You are excited to see your family, but you are also filled with dread. It is circumcision season, and you are 13.
You listen carefully to the conversations at home, wondering which night it will happen, hoping you can run away into the night before the elderly woman with the knife comes. At age 13, a girl becomes a woman in your tribe by undergoing female genital mutilation (FGM) — the partial or total removal of a girl’s external genitals. It’s a rite of passage in your tribe and makes you eligible for marriage. You don’t want to marry; you’re young and want to stay in school. But your parents have other plans.

Food security exists when all people at all times have physical, social and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food.
Jun 20, 2018 | SDG Goal.
Today, the main concern in the agricultural sector is to provide simultaneously enough food, in quantity and quality, to meet the nutritional needs of a growing population and to conserve natural resources for future generations. When we say Food security, we are also talking about the availability and equal distribution of nutritious food.
When healthy food becomes scarce, people shift focus to less nutritious options thereby increasing the risk of an unhealthy lifestyle which can lead to reduced productivity, less immunity and impaired physical and mental development.

Any farmer will tell you that preparing a new field for planting is hard work. The same is true when planting the seed of the gospel in an un-reached people group. But with faithful perseverance the planting will expand. The gospel seed will permeate the people group’s culture, and the church will begin healthy reproduction. That’s our goal.
“AND THIS GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM WILL BE PREACHED IN ALL THE WORLD…”
God’s heart is for every nation, tribe, and people to hear the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. “And this Gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)

Do you know that the average Nigerian family earns N16666 monthly and the average number of daughters in a Nigerian family is 2. The preceding statistic implies that each family would have to spend N540 on sanitary pads for their daughters. This is a luxury that most families in Nigeria cannot afford even as Inflation continues to rise without a corresponding increase in income.
Now why am I saying this? I want to introduce to you the Supporting Her Prime Campaign (SHP), a movement I believe in, which is targeted towards providing teenage girls and female adults with sanitary items necessary for them to live wholesome lives. We are a group of young people who have come together to provide a solution to the problem of unhealthy sanitary practices amongst young girls and inability to afford sanitary items. We aim to solve this problem by providing sanitary pads to ladies who cannot afford them and giving them the right information on menstrual hygiene.
