Apr 11, 2018 | A Writing Prompt.

Bang! Bang! Bang!
“Mama Emeka open the door, if not I would break it down…”

He awoke with the sounds of his parents wrestle telling him it’s day break.

With painful screams proceeding from his mother’s mouth, he watched as his Father hit his mother like a car in need of panel beating! It sinks; maybe that’s what women are for!

ON THE ROAD TO DESTINY

We boarded the bus of destiny
Hit potholes, bumped into ditches
But we made it out.

I saw the city afar off
It seemed so slow in coming
The road is longer than I thought
How are we going to make it in time?

THREE STEPS TO GREEN: HOW TO GET INVOLVED IN THE CLIMATE MOVEMENT

Mar 14, 2018 || Eco-Post

ReBLOG – The Climate Reality PROJECT

The headlines can be discouraging. Severe storms and wildfires are striking with more and more intensity due to rising global temperatures and a rapidly changing climate system. Meanwhile, the US continues to roll back critical climate policies and has maintained its irresponsible and very lonely decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement. But instead of feeling defeated, citizens – from all ages and backgrounds – are fighting back by standing up for clean energy and against the fossil fuel agenda. The movement is growing stronger every day, and our efforts together are getting results.Just look at what’s happening, both in the US and around the world. Young people are suing the Trump Administration for failing to address climate change. Grassroots organizations have pressured US cities to double climate efforts, and at least 47 have already committed to 100 percent renewable electricity. Internationally, climate action is also accelerating as several countries have stepped up their ambition to reduce emissions and install more clean energy, helping to fill the global leadership void left by the US.Are you ready to join the movement? We understand that speaking up can feel overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be. We broke the process down into three simple steps.

I’m in love with a soldier and I no know who send me message!!!

I saw him from afar, and I quickly changed my steps to that of an injured warrior.
“Otondo, won’t you double up?!” he shouted as we approached him.
“I have a pain sir.”
“Oh ok” His voice became calmer and tender. “Have you visited the clinic? What happened?”
“Na you oh, soldier na you…” I sang in my head. “A minor bruise” I rep-lied
“Why not go to the clinic and rest if it hurts that much,” he suggested.
Choi, Chi’m, how sweet can it get, heaven does listens. And off to the clinic I hopped. On getting there I sighted my neighbor who’s also a nurse. I beckoned to her

“Babe, please come”

I’m in love with a soldier and I no know who send me message!!!

“Don’t give up the ship”

“Damn the torpedoes and full speed!”

“That’s some of the expression we use during the war,” he said, “In life, you must always be prepared to face the enemy, don’t ever loose your guard, be committed to fighting a cause, whatever it be, ours is to protect the country from insecurities….”

CRUSH CHRONICLES

Apr 4, 2018 || A Fiction, or Not

I sat down at the reception; legs crossed and eyes darting at my watch; I have to quickly see the gynaecologist and get back to the office. Last week’s tour was a productive one, and it was today the Board of directors wanted a review, but why? This same tour is the reason I’m here, I shouldn’t have used that toilet, Tina cautioned me on the use of public places, but the toilet looked clean na. Kai! I had danced to the rhythm of the music playing beneath my thighs throughout the weekend and I had had enough. Hospital smell aren’t exactly my favourite fragrance – with the sharp antiseptic smell that cuts through your nose like a razor. Whew!

Just then a nurse passed by
“Please,” I said with the voice of a dying person. “I need to see a doctor, I know today’s booked, but I’m already late for an appointment.” I pulled up my face and did my best immitation of a needy hopeless person.
She looked at me with pity, took my file and entered a room. She came out almost immediately. “The doctor would call you soon”
“Thank you very much”
Minutes later I was called in “Miss Ifeoma, please come in”
Finally, I breathed a sigh of relief. I walked into the room and froze….

WISE CONVERSATIONS BETWEEN OPRAH AND MAYA ANGELOU

Mar 24, 2018 || COURAGEAMAYA

Just read an update from my friend Stanley. He scribbled down a powerful interview between two of my favorite women ever – Oprah and the late Maya Angelou, who happen to be his favorite too!

Really wish I could get the entire thing, but I’m not really a Spotify person but i can sacrifice and try to get it out and see if it’s possible to share from there. It really spoke to me and blessed me. Hope it does for you too. (PS: A bit long).

Oprah: I remember once being in your house and somebody was telling a joke. And you were on the other side of the house… we were at a party, it was very noisy. And the person made a joke and it was a racist, homophobic joke… and you stopped the party.
Maya Angelou: Mmm hmmm
Oprah: First of all, I couldn’t believe, I was like how could she hear that from all the way over there. But you stopped the party and asked the persons to excuse themselves and leave your house.

SHAKEN

Mar 21 – A Story

He held and shook her violently.
She stared back at him with her eye balls moving like a swinging pendulum.
She has been shaken by a lot of things in her life. She remembered the accident.

The accident that shook her as a child but killed her parents. Life became a roller coaster ride after that incident and it seemed to stop at Dikwa; a village where she lived with her grandmother. It was at this village the bombs shook her. An Islamic sect attacked Dikwa and whisked her and other girls into a pickup van, blindfolded them and drove them into the forest. There she met Hussein. After rounds of marriage to the sect’s members and subsequent burials of her husbands, she was handed over to a new recruit. He had the same passion as the others but he was different. Hussein felt different because he always told her he loved her. He never said it when she made his meals and served him or when she washed his clothes and cleaned his boots. He only said it at the epilogue of a violent sex. It was as if he was human for a few seconds and would mutter it under his breath like he was owning up to a weakness.

That was enough for her.

A PATRIARCH OF FAITH

Mar 03, 2018 | A Life Well Lived

BILLY GRAHAM

“I have one message: that Jesus Christ came, he died on a cross, he rose again, and he asked us to repent of our sins and receive him by faith as Lord and Savior, and if we do, we have forgiveness of all of our sins.” —Billy Graham
A forerunner and an evangelist at revival meetings, and on radio and television for over 40 years, born on November 7, 1918, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Billy Graham helped bind together a vulnerable nation through religious revival. By glazing over the finer details of Christianity and focusing on more moderate doctrines, Graham made evangelism enticing, non-threatening, even easy—and the media made his messages accessible to the masses.
